Post subject: | Headset mix amps |
So, I've just ordered a pair of and I've read that to get pure amazing sound, I should get a Mix amplifier. I've also heard that if I were to get a better sound card such as the but they have a compatible mix amp with it as well, it would further improve the clarity. Just wondering if you think it is worth the money to get a sound card (rather than the built in MoBo one, and if a mix amp is also worth it too. I love my audio and I can justify spending money on it, if it were to improve the sound, I'd be happy to pay (within reason!) Thanks |

http://goo.gl/VNnG2 Built in headphone amp with interchangeable parts, it's stereo only so any surround sound speakers and shit will not work. There is a slightly cheaper PCI Express version (STX), the PCI one is better by a small margin and chances are you won't notice a difference with either one unless you get a pair of high end cans. Or you could get an external DAC, then you won't even need a sound card. Not sure why you would get a pair of cans Sennheiser's gaming headset line if you want the best sound. Gaming headsets will always be inferior to mid-high end headphones, this is especially true for Sennheiser. |

I chose the headset because I'm tired of using a separate headphone and desktop boom mic, especially when at times hearing myself type through someone elses mic was horrible. I did also look at the Astro A40's which seemed to be very good, but I wanted the Sennheisers cause of the open air design, and lightness of the headset. My current one I would say is around 500g and after a while it does seem pretty heavy and makes my head feel a little tender where the strap was. |
