You guy should come and play vanilla with me~ http://worldofscriptcraft.com/site/register/So much fun, even the 5-mans are fucking hard.. There's a patch on the 14th that releases dungeon set 2 among other things, apparently they might release Naxx with it! Lets all become vanilla raiding heroes once again. Oh yeah, you can chose to get leveled up to 49 right at the start after you make a character, there's a goblin that offers to level you up and teleport you out. You get some mixed green/blue basic starter gear for the level and no gold. You can also target yourself and write ".exp 5" to get five times the experience if you want to get to 60 fast!

Scriptcraft is located in the US but I have 80ms to it and it's like 5 times more responsive than any EU retail server. It has both EU and US players, usually around 1.2k horde online during EU prime time and 1.5k+ during US prime time.
Feenix (wow-one.com) lets you buy epics and legendaries for money and then call it "donations", fuck that shit.

Basically, when C'thun was released the top horde guild GRIZZLY got server first. There was a bug with [any and all] totems on the encounter which was used since you don't really want to raid without totems. This resulted in one of their players getting banned for 30 days and GRIZZLY rising up against the owner [Gummy], who didn't give a fuck. This lead to GRIZZLY abandoning the server in search for other vanilla servers. Gummy had been considering shutting down the server for a while due to him still being in school and not having enough time to deal with both. Shortly after GRIZZLY left the server, the main tank of Gummy's guild quit and that lead to the guild disbanding and pulling of the plug without any prior notice. At least I got to experience vanilla wow once again for a while and it was amazing.
People say that you're dumb and just driven by nostalgia if you think vanilla was better. Honestly, vanilla was fairly bad in terms of pretty much everything that has to do with comfort and balance, but I'll be damned if it wasn't the most fun I've had while playing video games in years. The overpowered classes in PvP and getting one-shot by stuff made it frustrating and at the same time fun to play. You had to think about what you were doing and not just charge in with a million resilience and survive for a good while. Not to mention the druids with PvP set bonus for faster travel form coupled with rocket boots, free action potions and blessing of freedom. Fuck those fucking druids with their fucking paladins!
The UI limitations where you had to resort to doing most things manually instead of just using addons and macros for everything made sure you weren't on autopilot in PvE like I was the last two or so years of retail wow. I even did some ZG and realised just how much worse totems really were than blessings but it was still fun doing. Heck.. I even enjoyed doing 5-man instances to gear up because they were actually a challenge to complete before you got geared.
Chances are that I won't play vanilla again after this experience but it was definitely fun reliving it. Maybe I'll try a TBC server next time I am bored enough, that was a great expansion where they did most things right. Too bad it went downhill fast after that.

Is the content really still a challenge like 5m and raids even with all the knowledge and experience?
I would like to relive that but not sure if i have the time for it. I guess the time requirement for getting into raids is still as hardcore as it used to be?
